Violin and Viola Lessons - Laura Steiner

Younger Children

Every child can learn to play! I teach young children according to Suzuki philosophy. This mother-tongue method surrounds children with music and a positive, encouraging environment both at home and in the lesson. Small steps and hard work are celebrated, allowing the child to make progress at their own natural pace. This method creates an eagerness to learn and works to develop many desirable character traits.

As Dr. Suzuki would say: “Beautiful tone, beautiful heart.”

Older Children and Adults

For older children and adults, I still adhere to some of the main principles of the Suzuki method: taking small steps, emphasizing the progress rather than the "product," and providing a warm and supportive environment in which learning can flourish. I wish to help all of my students reach their musical goals, ranging from being able to play for fun, to auditioning for college orchestra programs and scholarships, to giving recitals and playing chamber music.
